The automatic tuning boxes allow to transmit in HF with a non-accorded antenna with an impedance very different from 50 ohms. With these tuners, you can transmit with long wire antennas, or other antennas, with many configurations (quadra-loop, delta-loop,...) base or mobile. It's the indispensable equipment if you wish to transmit where the antenna installation is dificult : on a boat, on a small roof, in a portable pack, etc....
